【摘要】:Therequirementsexpressedinthistestmethodareintendedtocontrolthequalityoftheradiographicimages,toproducesatisfactoryandconsistentresults,andarenotintendedforcontrollingtheacceptabilityorqualityofmaterialsorproducts.1.1Thistestmethodprovidesauniformprocedureforradiographicexaminationofmetalliccastingsusingradiographicfilmastherecordingmedium.1.2Duetothemanycomplexgeometriesandpartconfigurationsinherentwithcastproducts,itisnecessarytorecognizepotentiallimitationsassociatedwithobtainingcompleteradiographiccoverageoncastings.Radiographyofareaswheregeometryorpartconfigurationdoesnotallowachievementofcompletecoveragewithpracticalradiographicmethodsshallbesubjecttomutualagreementsbetweenpurchaserandsupplier.Theuseofalternativenondestructivemethodsforareasthatarenotconducivetopracticalradiographyshallalsobespecificallyagreeduponbetweenpurchaserandsupplier.1.3Theradiographicmethodishighlysensitivetovolumetricdiscontinuitiesthatdisplaceadetectablevolumeofcastmaterial.Discontinuitiesthatdonotdisplaceanappreciablevolumeofmaterial,however,suchascracksorotherplanar-typeindications,maynotbedetectedwithradiographyunlesstheradiationbeamiscoincidentallyalignedwiththeplanarorientationofthediscontinuity.Inviewofthislimitation,itmaybeconsideredappropriatetousetheradiographicmethodinconjunctionwithadditionalnondestructivemethodsthatmaintainreliabledetectioncapabilitiesforthesetypesofdiscontinuities.Theuseofadditionalmethodsshallbespecificallyagreeduponbetweenthepurchaserandsupplier.1.4Theradiographictechniquesstatedhereinprovideadequateassurancefordefectdetectability;however,itisrecognizedthat,forspecialapplications,specifictechniquesusingmoreorlessstringentrequirementsmayberequiredthanthosespecified.Inthesecases,theuseofalternateradiographictechniquesshallbeasagreeduponbetweenpurchaserandsupplier(alsoseeSection).1.5Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
