【摘要】:1.1Thistestmethoddescribesgamma-raymethodsusedtonondestructivelymeasurethequantityof235U,or239Puremainingasholdupinnuclearfacilities.Holdupoccursinallfacilitieswherenuclearmaterialisprocessed,inprocessequipment,inexhaustventilationsystemsandinbuildingwallsandfloors.1.2Thistestmethodincludesinformationusefulformanagement,planning,selectionofequipment,considerationofinterferences,measurementprogramdefinition,andtheutilizationofresources(1,2,3,4).1.3Themeasurementofnuclearmaterialholdupinprocessequipmentrequiresascientificknowledgeofradiationsourcesanddetectors,transmissionofradiation,calibration,facilityoperationsanderroranalysis.Itissubjecttotheconstraintsofthefacility,management,budget,andschedule;plushealthandsafetyrequirements;aswellasthelawsofphysics.Themeasurementprocessincludesdefiningmeasurementuncertaintiesandissensitivetotheformanddistributionofthematerial,variousbackgrounds,andinterferences.Theworkincludesinvestigationofmaterialdistributionswithinafacility,whichcouldincludepotentiallylargeholdupsurfaceareas.Nuclearmaterialheldupinpipes,ductwork,gloveboxes,andheavyequipment,isusuallydistributedinadiffuseandirregularmanner.Itisdifficulttodefinethemeasurementgeometry,toidentifytheformofthematerial,andtomeasureitwithoutinterferencefromadjacentsourcesofradiation.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
